When choosing a pump for your pond you should aim to turn the capacity of the pond over at least 1/2 to 1 times per hour. So if your pond was 500 gallons then you should have a pump with a turn over of 250gph - 500gph. So in this case the Otter 1000 - 1500 would be ideal.

OASE have now even improved on a winning formula. Our ongoing product development has resulted in an improved Aquamax range. The main advantages of Aquamax compared to others pumps remain. The specially designed impellor, allowing even the largest particles to pass through en route to the filter. With a life expectancy of
around 10 times longer and up to 75% savings on running cost, there can be no comparison with traditional drainage pumps. This is guaranteed by the tried and tested canned rotor technology. With the exception of the Aquamax 5500, all Aquamax models feature stainless steel motor housings. A new pre-filter protects pond wildlife from injury. A threaded step down hose tail is also supplied, allowing the simple connection of four different hose sizes up to 1 1/2“.
